STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Workshop
Whittier Middle School is currently providing a STEM-based extension opportunity for students interested in technology beyond what is addressed in the classroom curriculum. The "STEM Workshop" meets once a week during Wednesday's lunch to explore a range of creative topics in open-ended formats. Students have explored Robotics, Virtual Reality, Coding Languages, 3-D Printing, Digital Storytelling, and App Development, too. Students receive instruction on the topic at a pace that matches their interest and ability during the workshops. Most importantly, students learn to collaborate and share with ongoing projects to emulate a real technology work environment. Students who attend the most workshops are invited to a state wide conference in the spring put on by MLTI.
