From the Superintendent

Picture of the RSU 16 Superintendent, Kenneth HealeyMy name is Ken Healey, the new Superintendent of Schools for Regional School Unit #16. As we begin this school year, I feel it is important to introduce myself and explain why I sought to be the educational leader of our school district.

As long as I can remember, I have always had a strong desire to make a difference in everything I'm involved in. I made a difference by serving the country, for 21 years in the Marine Corps, to help ensure freedom for our nation and citizens. I seek to make a difference daily with my family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, community and students, in hopes my interaction positively impacts each of them.

I was asked today why I do what I do? The answer was fairly simple. I work to make a difference for the children of our community by leading and supporting those who are responsible for transporting, feeding, and educating our students. The difference those people make help ready each of our students for life outside of the comfort of the public education system. At times, making a difference can be an overwhelming responsibility full of both joy and sadness. I take on the challenge of making a difference for our children, because I feel my background, leadership and personality are a good match for the hardworking teachers, staff, students, and citizens of Minot, Mechanic Falls, and Poland.

My commitment to the RSU #16 community is: I will always do what I feel is right for our children and their education, in hopes of making both a measurable and profound educational difference in each of their lives.

We have so much work to accomplish this school year, and it can only be done if we work as a single team. I call on everyone to work together to provide our learners with the best education possible. Never let it be said that we failed because the work was too hard or too difficult. Let it be said that we all worked tirelessly to overcome any and all obstacles or road blocks to educate the deserving learners of these three wonderful communities.

I come to RSU #16 for one primary reason, to "Make a Difference" - let's all make a difference together. I look forward to working with all of you . Enjoy the school year.
