Hey, I’m Mrs. Gervais! I graduated from the University of Southern Maine with my Masters of Science in Counseling. Cartoonish rendering of a group of children

  • We address students’ academic, career, and social/emotional needs through a comprehensive school counseling program that is delivered via classroom instruction, individual and group counseling.

  • We deliver classroom lessons using The Second Step Curriculum that promotes school success, school connectedness, and a safe and respectful school climate through Growth Mindset, Goal Setting, Emotion Management, Empathy, Kindness, and Problem-Solving.

  • We support students who are facing challenges such as the death of a loved one/pet, family transitions, friendship issues, being new to Poland etc.

  • We celebrate students’ successes.

  • We expose students to self-regulatory skills (such as breathing exercises, physical movement, journaling, and meditating etc.) which enhances their ability to focus, identify feelings, and release stress.

Mrs. Higg’s & Mrs. Gervais’ Role with Families and the Community

Family stick figures

  • We maintain confidentiality with all families and students. Confidentiality will be broken if people express they are having feelings of harming themselves or others. We are mandated reporters.

  • We serve as consultants to school staff, parents, and the greater community.

  • We work collaboratively with all Poland Community School staff, parents, and the greater community to ensure all people feel safe, valued, and respected.
