DHHS/District Attorney
Any employee of RSU 16 who suspects that a child has been or is likely to be abused or neglected, the employee must immediately notify the appropriate agency and the building principal/designated agent.
- If the abuser is responsible for the care of the child – contact DHHS: 1-800-452-1999
- If the abuser is not responsible for the care of the child – contact the District Attorney (753-2500 option 4) or local police agency
If you suspect abuse or neglect of a child, you may also call the above numbers.
Outside Counselors
Please remember that we have 3 outside counselors who come to PRHS/Whittier to provide clinical counseling services to our students. All referrals for those counselors go through any member of the school counselor or school social work staff. The counselors will take Mainecare, some take private insurance, and some bill directly (including with a sliding scale). This has been a great option for families who cannot get their students to regular counseling appointments in Lewiston or Auburn. Please contact your student’s school counselor for more information.
