Please allow the Guidance Office 2 weeks to process your scholarship applications – this mean you need to turn in your completed application and PINK SHEET at least 2 weeks prior to the due date!

1.     Clyde Russell Scholarship for Seniors Who Will Be Attending a 4 Year College - $10,000.  Download application at  Deadline: Feb. 1, 2019.

2.     Clyde Russell Scholarship for Seniors Who Will Be Attending Maine Community College - $2,000.  Download application at  Deadline: Feb. 1, 2019.

3.     FIRE Free Speech Essay Contest – up to $10,000.  Write an 800-1,000 word essay answering the prompt: why is free speech so important to higher education, and why censorship undermines the ideals of liberal education and a free society. More info available at:  Deadline:  December 31, 2018.

4.    Joe Bornstein’s Arrive Alive Contest – win a laptop or ipad. Submit a creative project that sends a message to peers about the dangers of drinking and driving or distracted driving.  Project could be: essay, poem, painting, video, song, drawing or anything creative! More info: Deadline: May 10, 2019.

5.    Bay Path University Signature Scholarship Competition – amounts vary up to full tuition.  Short essay required.  More info: www.baypathedu/ScholarshipCompetition.  Deadline: January 6, 2019.

6.     Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship – several scholarships available, amounts vary but are renewable for 4 years.  Must have a 3.0 GPA and an EFC (Expected Family Contribution as determined by the FAFSA) of $10,000 or less.  Applications are reviewed for academic achievement, service to others, history of part time work and grit for overcoming obstacles and/or achieving goals. 7.    University of Maine Engineering Scholarship – open to students planning to attend UMaine to study engineering.  Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher, at least 1100 SAT score and in the top 15% of class.  Info available at:  Deadline: December 31, 2018.

8.     WACE National Co-op Scholarship Program – Must have a 3.5 GPA and apply to one of the following schools:  Clarkson, Drexel, Johnson & Wales, Merrimack, RIT, SUNY Oswego, Univ of Toledo, Univ of Cincinnati, Wentworth Institute of Technology.  Deadline:  February 15, 2019 ***but some colleges have an earlier deadline – be sure to check!!***

9.    College Board Opportunity Scholarships – enter for a chance to win multiple scholarships from $500 to $40,000 for doing all things college related…like taking your SATs and filing your FAFSA.  Program launches in December, but sign up now to be notified of when it begins:  

10.    United States JCI Senate Foundation – up to $1,000, multiple scholarships available.  More info available at Deadline: January 11, 2019.

11.    Diane E. Curtis Medical Scholarship - $1,000.  Open to students planning to pursue a career in medicine.  Must live in Androscoggin or Oxford county.  Deadline:  February 28, 2019.

12.     Maine Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship – five $5,000 scholarships available.  Open to student athletes who demonstrate outstanding athletic ability, academic aptitude and school leadership/community service.  Deadline:  March 8, 2019.

13.     Mainely Character Scholarship – multiple awards, up to $5,000.  Open to students who demonstrate courage, integrity, responsibility and concern for others.  Grades are not considered – only a student’s character.  More info available at  Deadline:  March 1, 2019.

14.     Community Credit Union – Gerald R. Langelier Scholarship - $500 to one PRHS senior.  Must be a member of Community Credit Union (can join by opening a share account with minimum $25 balance).  Short essay required.  More info available at  Deadline:  April 1, 2019.

15.     Maine Society of Professional Engineers – two scholarships available.  Applicants must plan to earn a degree in engineering.  Info and application available at:  Deadline:  March 15, 2019.

16.     Maine Community Foundation – multiple scholarships available!!  Register and create account at and then take an Eligibility Quiz to determine which Maine based scholarships you might qualify for!  More details available on their website or in guidance.  Deadlines vary.

17.     Maine Machine Products Company Scholarship – full scholarship to Central Maine Community College for a student enrolling in the Machine Tool Technology program.  Must agree to work at Maine Machine Products during school and for 2 years after graduation.  Deadline:  March 29, 2019.

18.     Bruce M. Whittier Scholarship – open to PRHS students.  Must have 2 recommendation letters and a cover letter introducing yourself and why you want this award.  Deadline:  April 5, 2019.

19.     Mitchell Scholarship - $10,000 to one PRHS student!  Applicants will be evaluated based on academic potential, community impact and financial need.  More details at:  Deadlines:  April 1, 2019 for most materials, May 1 for college acceptance letter & financial aid letter.

20.     New England Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers – George Coleman Scholarship – three $2,000 scholarships available.  Must plan to enroll in a NEACRAO member institution.  Deadline:  March 15, 2019.

21.     Bill of Rights Institute – We the Students Essay Contest – answer the prompt “What are the essential qualities of a citizen in your community in 21st century America”.  More info at:  Deadline: February 14, 2019.

22.     Maryann Hartman Awards Essay Contest - $1,000.  Answer the prompt, “What Maine feminist has inspired you?”  More info at  Deadline:  January 31, 2019.

23.     Maine Driver Education Association Scholarship – two $250 scholarships available.  Must have been instructed in driver education by an instructor who is a member of MEDEA.  300 word essay on drivers education (see application for specifics).  Deadline:  January 31, 2019.

24.     Poland Scholarship Fund – several scholarships available, amounts vary.  Must be a Poland resident.  Deadline:  April 1, 2019.

25.     Bridgton Art Guild Scholarship - $700.  Open to students planning to pursue education in the visual arts field. Deadline: May 1, 2019

26.     St. Vincent de Paul Society Scholarship – two $2,000 scholarships available.  Open to seniors in Androscoggin County.  Deadline: April 19, 2019.

27.     Maine State Employees Association Scholarship – applicants must have an relationship with a dues paying member of the association.  Dependents of teachers are not eligible.  Deadline: April 19, 2019.

28.     Franco-American Education Foundation Scholarship – amount varies.  Must be of Franco-American heritage and be a resident of Lewiston, Auburn, Lisbon, Sabattus, Greene, Turner, Minot, Durham or Poland. Deadline:  April 30, 2019.

29.    Selma Gleit Memorial Scholarship for Women in STEM – open to Jewish female students who have demonstrated excellence and commitment in science, technology, engineering and/or math.  Deadline: April 19, 2019.

30.    Woman’s Literary Union of Androscoggin County - $500.  Open to students who attend high school in Androscoggin County and who plan to pursue studies in the arts or literature.  Deadline:  April 30, 2019.

31.    Cancer Unwrapped Teen Writing Contest – several $500 awards.  Write about your experience with cancer (either your own diagnosis or that of a loved one).  Deadline: April 15, 2019.

32.    Maine Dairy Princess Scholarship Pageant – up to $1,000.  Deadline:  June 5, 2019.

33.    Maine Legislative Memorial Scholarship – one $1,000/county.  Awards will be made on the basis of academic excellence, financial need, and contributions to the community.  Deadline: May 1, 2019.

34.    Lewiston Auburn Rotary Service Above Self Scholarship – one $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a PRHS student.  Applicants should demonstrate exceptional service to the community.  If selected, you must make a 3-5 minute presentation addressing how you have provided Service Above Self.  Deadline: April 19, 2019.

35.    Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Scholarship – one $500 will be awarded to a PRHS student.  Must plan to attend a Maine college/university.  Applicants must be in good academic standing, demonstrate positive community involvement, have a record of good time/task management.  Priority to those students who plan to pursue a degree in business, technical or health related field.

36.    H. Priscilla Waterhouse Scholarship – $1,000.  Open to students planning to pursue a career in fire fighting, EMS or as a doctor, veterinarian, pharmacist, nurse or related field. Deadline: April 30, 2019.

37.    Mechanics Savings Banking on the Future Scholarship - $1,000 to a PRHS student.  Applicants will be reviewed for accomplishments in and out of the classroom, as well as service to others.  Deadline: April 19, 2019.
