Bus Rules and Regulations

Grades K-12

WHILE ON THE BUS:
  1. The driver is in full charge of the bus and pupils. All passengers are the responsibility of the driver while riding the bus.
  2. The driver may assign seats in the bus and pupils will take assigned seats.
  3. There will be no “horseplay”, pushing, or racing for seats while getting off the bus.
  4. Students must remain seated while the bus is in motion.
  5. Keep hands, feet and heads inside the bus at all times.
  6. Assist in keeping the bus safe and sanitary at all times. No eating or drinking on the bus. This includes chewing gum.
  7. Remember that loud talking and laughing or unnecessary confusion diverts the driver’s attention.
  8. Treat bus equipment as you would valuable furniture in your home. Any damage will be paid for by offender.
  9. Never tamper with the bus or any of its equipment.
  10. Keep books, lunch boxes, coats and all other objects out of the aisles.
  11. Remain in the bus in case of a road emergency unless directed to do otherwise by the bus driver.
  12. Do not throw anything out of the bus windows.
  13. Please refrain from unnecessary conversations with the bus driver.
  14. Throwing or snatching of hats, caps, lunch boxes, etc. will not be permitted on the bus.
  15. Smoking or lighting of matches or lighters is not permitted on any bus at any time.
  16. No laser lights are permitted.
  17. Always treat your fellow pupils with courtesy.
  18. If a parent wishes a pupil to leave the bus from any place other than his/her home or ride on another bus, they must have written authorization form given to the bus driver.  
  19. Parents will be notified if there is continuous misconduct on the bus. Bus riders may be denied the privilege of riding. The following are the disciplinary actions for violations of the rules. If any parents have questions about these offenses, they should call the transportation director  998-2727, 107 

BUS RULES   Grades  1-6

The following areas are considered to be serious and an immediate three day suspension is given by the bus driver.

  1. Fighting, swearing/or abusive language among students on the bus.
  2. Throwing objects in or out of the bus.
  3. Destruction of bus property (restitution will be made to the district)
  4. Other acts which interfere with the safe operation of the bus.
  5. The Transportation Director reserves the right to adjust decisions as needed.

Immediate suspension will be given to a student until a meeting can be held with parents, school, administrators and the transportation director for the following violations:

  1. Assaulting the bus driver (this includes swearing and/or abusive language directed at the bus driver).
  2. Any Student who is deemed to be uncontrollable by the driver, causing bodily harm to himself or another students.
  3. Smoking, lighting matches or a lighter.

Students start their days when they board the school bus on the morning and end their days when they are discharged from the school bus in the afternoon.  Therefore, all behavioral expectations and rules of conduct that apply during the school day equally apply to the school bus. Consequences for violation of behavioral expectations and rules of conduct on school buses will be determined collaboratively by the school principal/assistant principal  and the director of transportation.

Any parent or guardian who has a complaint or concern, pertaining to the busing of a student, will contact the transportation director at 998-2727,.x107.
