Dear RSU 16 Parents/Guardians,
As the 2019-2020 school year approaches, it is imperative that the Transportation Department has an accurate count of students on each of our school buses. RSU 16, like most Maine communities, has been faced with a bus driver shortage for the last couple of school years. We have also received many concerned calls about the crowded school buses. We have student limitations for each school bus, and it is important that we never exceed those limits. ·
To ensure we have enough bus capacity for each regularly riding student, the Transportation Department needs to know if any student will have an alternative pick-up or drop-off location other than their home address.
Accordingly, all parents/guardians who intend to have an alternate pick-up or drop-off location for their students, such as daycare or aftercare, need to identify that location by completing the attached form and returning the form to the Transportation Office by August 16, 2019, via email - jmcnally@rsu16.org or you can drop it off at the school's main office.
Additionally, because of the crowded buses, there will be no bus slips allowed this school year at any elementary school. If a family emergency arises preventing a student from taking their normal or alternate pick-up or drop-off location, the parent/guardian will be responsible for arranging different transportation and then notifying the elementary school's main office to inform the school of the change they have made to their student's transportation for that day.
If you have already filled out a Daycare Provider form this summer and filed it with the Transportation Office, there is no need to fill out another one.
