Technology in Grades PK - 12

All students in grades PK through 12 have been issued a chromebook computer and a school google account. This account and their google drive (for storage) stays with them from PK all the way to graduation. They can take the contents of their google drive with them when they graduate.

Some general information about chromebooks:

• They are well equipped for distance learning and Zoom meetings
• They work natively with Google Classroom allowing for real time student and teacher collaboration
• Excellent accessibility features for all students
• Can work offline without an internet connection and sync once connected
• Built-in productivity apps with Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, Calendars and more
• WeVideo and Soundtrap for making video and music
• Cloud based storage in Google Drive so students can access their school documents from any computer at any location if needed
• Extensions add to the functionality of the ChromeOS browser
• Easy to use for any age student
• Significant built-in security features and automated OS updates; no malware or outdated systems
• They can run for approximately 8-10 hours on battery. They last the school day on  a full charge so students to charge them overnight.
• The majority of our chromebooks have touch screens and all future purchases will have them
• Ten second boot up time
• Five minutes to Powerwash and reassign a device
• Google Workspace for Education allows us to manage thousands of chromebooks with ease
• Less expensive than other full OS laptops and very reliable. Reduced TCO allows all students to have their own school issued device at all times.
• Accidental damage is easy to repair in our own IT Shop with readily available parts. 
• Annual $20 technology use fee allows us to repair or replace devices as needed, always keeping a device in the hands of students
