What do you do in IT?
We are often asked “What do you do in IT?”
I recently heard a keynote speaker, Joe Sanfelippo, who said “When people don’t know what you do, they make up what you do.”

The District IT Department handles a wide variety of tasks in addition to supporting users and devices. This is a (not all inclusive) list of some of what we do on a daily basis:
- Install, set up, maintain and repair all district computers, chromebooks and iPads
- Up to date inventory of all devices in the district
- Maintain wired and wireless networks in each school plus Central office and Adult Ed
- Support all users and all departments in the district; administrators, teachers, staff and students
- Develop the district technology budget in line with the District Technology Plan
- Maintain software contracts and licensing
- Manage technology replacement cycles
- Manage the district Google Apps for Education domain including email for all employees and students in grades 5-12 and chrome device management
- Maintain Jamf, our mobile device management system for iPads and MacBook Airs
- System Administration for Infinite Campus, our student information system
- School Messenger, our emergency messenger system
- Manage district cell phone contract
- Manage security cameras and electronic key card system
