Strategic Planning Team (SPT)

Meeting Summary

Meeting Date: March 14

  • Wrapped up our discussion on the book iGen: Why Today's Super-Connected Kids Are Growing Up Less Rebellious, More Tolerant, Less Happy--and Completely Unprepared for Adulthood--and What That Means for the Rest of Us by Jean Twenge
  • Discussed where do we see kids fired up up do something or participate in something
  • Reviewed PRHS and WMS Objective Statements from the SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) protocol to develop themes to consider for the strategic plan update.
  • Although we added to the brainstormed focus areas or main topics, the goal is to get the list to 4-6 key focus areas.
  • Why all the preparation and no draft yet? It's crucial because it allows us to grasp our district's current state and understand our stakeholders' perspectives before we craft our strategic plan. Each member needs to broaden their perspective and be willing to acknowledge their own biases before we can finalize the strategic plan.

All of our information is available on the website

Next meeting is April 2.

What is this group doing?
The Strategic Planning Team (SPT), will update the RSU 16 Strategic Plan. The SPT will create a five-year strategic plan to include, at a minimum, statements of mission and core beliefs, with identified goals and actions for meeting those goals. The SPT will engage the community and staff in the planning process, will report on its progress at a School Board meeting each month, and will present a draft plan for the School Board’s review, input, and eventual approval.  To uphold transparency, a summary email detailing agenda items from each meeting will be distributed. The School Board reserves the authority to edit, approve, and distribute the Strategic Plan.

Members: Todd Sanders, Amy Hediger, Erik Anderson, Jessica Madsen, D’Arcy Robinson, Angela Gilbert, Jen Gagnon, Brittany Hemond, Bob Klar, Randy Lautz, Joe Parent, Mary Martin
