Strategic Planning Team (SPT)

Meeting Summary
April 2, 2024

What is this group doing?  The Strategic Planning Team (SPT), will update the RSU 16 Strategic Plan. The SPT will create a five-year strategic plan to include, at a minimum, statements of mission and core beliefs, with identified goals and actions for meeting those goals. The SPT will engage the community and staff in the planning process, will report on its progress at a School Board meeting each month, and will present a draft plan for the School Board’s review, input, and eventual approval.  To uphold transparency, a summary email detailing agenda items from each meeting will be distributed. The School Board reserves the authority to edit, approve, and distribute the Strategic Plan. 

Meeting Date: April 2

• The SPT has been assigned to one of four Action Groups: 1) mission statement, 2) Operations, 3) Education, and 4) Community.
• During this meeting Action Groups worked through a pre-planning protocol: 

1. What problem(s) are we trying to solve?
2. How do we know it is a problem(s)? Provide 4-5 pieces of evidence or examples that prove that these are actual problems we are trying to solve. Evidence must be from:  iGen book, Core Value activity, SWOT graphic organizer (with survey data and Annual Report data), Objective Statements from PRHS, PCS, or WMS
3. Brainstorm potential strategies or solutions to address the identified problems.
4. Prioritize strategies to solve the problem(s)?

• Next meeting, Action Groups will begin drafting language for the strategic plan
